Tithing while in debt is a philosophy that many Christians struggle with each day. There are some who stop tithing and then there are those who continue to do that through the debt process. Below is my personal views on this topic:

I have a different outlook about tithing while in debt. While I understand that most Christians may not believe in this philosophy, I have experience this first hand. Coming from a non-Christian background, most of my childhood, I was taught to help myself first and the importance of having financial security. The more I grasp on this concept, the more I held on tightly to it. It was a difficult lesson learning to let go and it still is. But once I try relaxing my fist, and letting other priorities set precedence in my life, things around me start to make more sense. It is not something that one person can necessarily make you understand, it is an experience only you could feel it for yourself and make any sense of it.

In Christianity, we are taught that everything we have belongs to God. We are only here for a temporary moment and that this lifetime is a preparation for eternity in Heaven with Him. So, God owns 100%. Giving him back 10% (tithe) is just a small portion. Learn to make-do with the other 90%. Also, God in His almight power does NOT need our money. God provides for His kingdom when and where He sees fit. So, why would He require us to TITHE? Because He tries to change own personality of "grabbing on to stuff".

Is that irresponsibility on the debtor's part? I feel that that's really up to the debtor's opinion. If he/she has such high regard for responsibility, overspending on acquiring "stuff" perhaps may not happen in the first place. If this mentality does not change, there will not be a change of heart and a change of attitude towards spending. Buyers will always buy so if they choose not to tithe (assuming that they are taught to do that), more than likely they have another reason to use that 10% more because surprise, surprise, Christmas is in December, or opppsss...... I didnt realize that school starts in August and it's July now. My kids need new clothing because they outgrew them.

The Million Dollar Question is, "Should You Tithe While You Are In Debt?" The Million Dollar Answer is, "ABSOLUTELY".

You tithe yourself out of debt. In the hard process of learning where your money should go, you set priorities and along the way, hopefully you realize that financial is so much more emotional rather than mathematical.

Then there is another question: Should you tithe based on your Gross or Net Income?

Whatever works for you! And whatever you are comfortable with and your budget can manage. Tithing is not a salvation issue. God loves you just the same - whether you tithe, or not. Tithe on the gross or the net. It is through Giving that He intends to change your heart. That's why it is so important to tithe through the process.

John 3:16 says, "For God so love the world, that He GAVE His only Son"... We serve a Giving God. We are created in His image. Until you know how to give, and learn that nothing is yours to begin with, you will truly live a life for Him.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

Read about what our satisfied clients have to say:

When she arrived for our appointment, we went through the normal preliminary procedures and all was fine. Then she surprised us. She had already done most of the work and only needed to take a few pictures of the inside and determine the price that we would be comfortable asking. She also spent a great deal of time explaining to us how the whole sales process work and what we could expect.

Eric & Tomoko Quere, Plano TX

Ultimately, Loreena introduced us to the house we bought--it was not one we found from our own hours of searching web listings--based on the the comments we had made while we visited these different homes. This is a testimony to her ability to listen well and to work proactively on our behalf.

Jenn & Glen Miller, Denton TX

We were completely impressed with Loreena. She helped us find and buy a home in Frisco. We have very high expectations from a realtor and she surpassed them. Knows her market extremely well, not just the technical market pricing data, but the nuances of all the neighborhoods as well. One of the most responsive and professional persons I've met in my entire business career.

Ruth & Jerry Meek, Frisco TX

I just want to thank you again for your help in selling our house. In this tough economy and market, I really didn't expect to get an offer. But you counseled me so well in pricing the house to sell and yet not letting me accept an offer that was too low. I believe we got the best deal we could have. I was so pleased and surprised with what we walked away with.
